Overall impression

One of the most distant cities from the capital. All benefits of civilization reach Vladivostok with a delay of several years/ Life is intense and not so calm and pleasant. There are almost no IT-events. There is a strong demand for 1C specialists.
Proximity to the sea: The sea surrounds the city from three sides. There are many beaches, both wild and with infrastructure. There are recreation areas in the city. However, if you wish to sea transparent blue water you have to go away from the city. After the construction of a bridge to Russky island such places have become more accessible.

Attitude to foreigners

Only Russians can become bus drivers.

Impression of local population

People are very different – from rednecks to stylish hipsters.

Climate

Summer is warm. It is possible to swim from mid-July till the end of September. November is already very cold. Winter is almost snowless but windy, humidity is high, so when the temperature is -20 degrees you feel it as -40 degrees.

Education

There is a university with good education and a nice campus.

Quality of medicine (quality and cost)

Online record to state clinic starts at 6 am, all coupons are taken in the first ten minutes. Commercial clinics are not very expensive and their medical services are of a high quality.

Transport (road access, quality of roads, level of driving, gasoline cost, public transportation)

Federal highways and main roads in the city are good. The infrastructure of Primorsky region is developing at a fast pace and the roads become better and better. Roads in the courts are awful, just as elsewhere in Russia.
Travelling abroad: There are direct flights to China, Korea, Japan Hong-Kong from Vladivostok International Airport. There is also a ferryboat to Japan and Korea.

Prices (cost of living, food, entertainment)

Dairy products are expensive, night clubs / beer / etc. cost on the average level in Russia.

Job (search complexity, level of salary)

There is some work for IT specialists, but it’s mainly 1C, a bit of PHP development and just few jobs for .NET developers. There are many job opportunities in logistics and port services.
An average junior earns around 35-40 thousand RUR per month.

Housing (cost, availability, rent, purchase)

Rental fee is around 20000 rubles for one bedroom flat.
One bedroom flat coasts 3700000 – 4500000 rubles..

Crime

At night, downtown streets are quite safe. At the same time in some commuter towns (like Tikhaya and Churkin) you can run into trouble even in the daytime (though after the construction of a bridge to Churkin it’s becoming safer).

Women \ men (for dating)

There are many beautiful and clever girls.

Internet access (availability, price)

The price is 900 rubles for 35 Mbit/s.

The region's economy (crisis, inflation)

The crisis affects local economy. Prices are constantly rising, but the salaries do not grow.
