Overall impression

Possible to live
Distance from the sea: There are the Great Lakes nearby. To get to the Lake Huron - 80 km ; to the Lake Erie - 50 km. There are good beaches, waves, sun and seagulls near these Lakes - you feel like near the sea, except that the water is not salty

Attitude to foreigners

There are a lot of immigrants from everywhere and everyone treats them well.

Impression of local population

Generally polite and friendly

Seasons are moved for 2 weeks back, on the average. The climate is similar to the center of the European part of Russia, but in summer the humidity is very high, while in winter there is no severe frosts (it can become warm up to +10) and there is a lot of snow.

The quality is high, a lot of opportunities. In colleges the specialization is narrower; they are a little cheaper. The University tuition fees for Canadians is from 6 to 10 thousand per a year; for foreign students - in the two and a half times more expensive. At the same time the funding is often provided for M.Sc. & Ph.D. programs.

Quality of medicine (quality and cost)

Provincial health insurance is free; it covers almost everything except dentistry, ophthalmologist and some specific procedures. As for the quality, nothing to say: not experienced.

Language (learning of the local language and communication with the local people)

Official languages - English and French, but in Ontario everyone speaks English.

Transport (road access, quality of roads, level of driving, gasoline cost, public transportation)

The highway and local roads are excellent. In summer, however, they are often closed for repairs, and in winter they are covered by snow, but in general, they are better than in Russia. The drivers are polite (sometimes unnecessarily), the rules are respected. Petrol is expensive ($ 1.25 per a liter - August 2011). Buses run on schedule, but it is not always comfortable (every half an hour on some routes; after 6 pm - every hour). The fare is $ 2.75 for one-time, the monthly pass costs $ 80.

Travel to other countries: Holders of Canadian passports can travel without a visa to most countries in Europe, USA, South America.

Prices (cost of living, food, entertainment)

Products are more expensive, electronics, clothing, home appliances are about the same as in Russia, mobile communications and the Internet are several times more expensive.

Job (search complexity, level of salary)

It wasn’t difficult to find a job it specialist.

Housing (cost, availability, rent, purchase)

Tor rent a one-bedroom apartment in not the best area -$600 per a month. A house with the area of 150 square meters in the new district will cost about $300 thousand

Women \ men (for dating)

Girls are cute, but there are a lot of thick and dressed so-so.

Internet access (availability, price)

Quick and unnecessarily expensive.
