A very calm place for remote working – no distractions, especially during the low season, when there are almost no tourists, but do understand that it is a real village %) – to get any “blessings of civilization”, you will need to go at least to Trincomalee, which isn’t a large town itself.
A warm ocean and a beach are included in the package.
Simple village people, quite friendly.
Warm and humid during the rainy season.
The locals speak enough English to communicate on day-to-day basis.
Buses are cheap and fun (no comforts whatsoever).
Tuk-tuks are quite expensive when compared to buses (50Rs for boarding + 50Rs per kilometer), and you need to agree on the price first too (tourist prices are higher).
There are also trains, which are cheap and very beautiful.
Meals are usually offered by the hotel/guesthouse, nothing exquisite and not much choice, but quite nice. Fruits during season, seafood.
Multiple options including everything from hotels to guesthouses, no need to book in advance, it is easier to come and make your pick here in person.
Prices vary from 750 Rs to 4000 Rs (might be more expensive someplace).
Haven’t heard of any, an army base is nearby so they keep the area under control.
Some women are good-looking, but I can’t imagine them that way.
3G is quite cheap + local Wi-Fi is nice.
Tourism is starting to develop (the locals are only beginners, so the level isn’t high yet), fishing mostly.
